Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) scholarship

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) scholarship is now available to Bumiputera students seeking to study Monash University’s Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at its Sunway campus in Petaling Jaya. The sponsorship is under MARA’s Open Application Scheme.

Selection of students will be based on their pre-university results, performance in the semi-structured interview as well as the results of an aptitude test.

To meet the requirements, students must first score three principals in the STPM or A-Levels with an “A” in chemistry. Apart from that, those who score excellent results in other pre-university programmes such as Australian Matriculation, Australian Year 12, Monash University Foundation Year, Canadian Matriculation, Canadian International Matriculation Programme and International Baccalaureate will also be eligible for a MARA scholarship. Pre-requisite subjects include English or English as a Second Language (ESL) and chemistry.

Students whose pre-university qualifications do not include English or ESL must demonstrate their English language proficiency through the A-level or TOEFL English tests. Apart from offering MARA scholarship for medicine, MARA also offers MARA scholarships for other Monash degree courses including engineering, information technology, business and science. The MARA scholarship are interest-free and the repayment amount may be reduced if students achieve excellent results.

About Singapore Scholarship

  • Application for the Singapore Scholarship must be submitted on the prescribed application form (The application form and supporting documents must be of A4 size and printed on one side only). Please contact the Singapore Embassy/High Commission/Consulate-General in your capital city for a copy of the Singapore Scholarship brochure and application form. You may click here for a softcopy of the application form for AY 09/10.

    Applicants will be required to submit a typed-written essay of about 300-500 words. The essay is an important part of your application.

    All supporting documents have to be attached. Those supporting documents that are not in English must have a certified translation in English. Translation and certification of transcripts and academic records have to be done by your educational institutions.

    Applications must be endorsed and submitted by their respective ASEAN Governments. The relevant agencies to endorse the application are:

    Please also note that most shortlisted nominees will take the entrance examinations set by NTU or NUS. PG Student Recruiting at HKUST

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is recruiting PhD students to start in Fall 2010. We are looking for outstanding undergraduate students as well as outstanding graduate students with master’s degree with some
research experience. We are looking for postgraduate students in all areas in computer science and related areas, including but not limited to, artificial intelligence, data and knowledge management, networks and
networking systems, software technologies, theoretical computer science and vision and graphics. We also encourage students interested in multi-disciplinary areas such as bioinformatics, risk management and

Our department consists of outstanding faculty members and graduate students with over 40 faculty members and over 100 PhD students. Our medium of teaching and research is English. Besides having a strong publication track record, our faculty and students are among the first to develop advanced and
popular P2P systems, industry standards on RFID and sensor networks, computer graphics and vision systems, large-scale data mining and machine learning systems for Web search, GPU and parallel computing for database query processing, to name a few. After getting their PhDs, our students find jobs in worldwide research labs such as Microsoft Research, Google, IBM and top universities in Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. A student who has a master’s degree is expected to graduate with a PhD in 3 years, and
an undergraduate degree to graduate in 4 years.

Starting in 2010, we are particularly happy to offer the prestigious Hong Kong PHD Fellowship of HK$20,000 (~USD 2,580) per month, plus a travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~USD 1,290) for three years. Exceptionally qualified PhD applicants (top 10% in class, >85% GPA, excellent English command) are welcome to contact potential faculty supervisors and apply by Dec 1, 2009. This fellowship award is offered centrally by University Grant Council of Hong Kong.

We also offer a large number of postgraduate research studentship awards at HK$156,000 per year (~USD 20,000/year). Our admission requirement for English is one of recent TOEFL(cbt)>=580, IELTS>=7, or TOEFL(ibt)>=92 by the time you enter HKUST. Applicants can send application material to our PG
